John Randolph Medical Center Offers Free Seminar on New Advances in Spinal Surgery
(HOPEWELL, VA) April 7, 2008 Spinal surgery to correct common back problems has historically been considered major surgery with unpredictable results. New technology is helping to preserve spinal mobility, as well as improve patient recovery times and decrease pain more reliably than traditional major surgery.
Learn about this new technology in a community seminar offered by John Randolph Medical Center on Tuesday, April 22. The seminar, titled New Advances in Spinal Surgery, will be held at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn-South, Appomattox Room, located at 800 Southpark Boulevard in Colonial Heights. It is free and open to the public.
The seminar will be presented by Prakasam Kalluri, M.D., of Colonial Orthopaedics, who will discusses how recent advances in spinal surgery focus on minimal disruption of tissues to accomplish fusion and decompression. Dr. Kalluri will also discuss new devices approved by the FDA in the past two years for artificial disc replacement.
